Cowes hosts the 7th and 8th Rounds of the 2005 UIM Powerboat P1 World Championship, along with rounds of the National V24, National 2 Litre, National RIB and Honda Invitational Championships.

The 44th year of the Cowes Classic represents the longest running endurance race for powerboats in the world. The Endurance fleet are also competing for the Harmsworth Trophy, the oldest trophy in the history of the sport which was first presented in 1903.
